Finding A Plastic Surgeon Finding a plastic surgeon you are confident with can be the most difficult part of cosmetic surgery. When shopping for a plastic surgeon, be sure that the surgeon is a member of The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS). These members are certified by The American Board of Plastic SurgeryŽ or The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. They will only operate in accredited medical facilities. Members also need to fulfill ongoing medical education requirements, including standards and innovations in patient safety. Don't be scared to shop around for the right plastic surgeon. You don't always buy the first car or home you look at, so why would you do the same with your plastic surgeon?! After all, this will be the change of a lifetime! So don't be scared to travel 300 miles away to find the right surgeon. Don't be afraid to ask friends, or friends of friends for recommendations. Try and find someone who has been through the exact same procedure. Ask them what their experiences we're like with that particular surgeon. Once you have found a plastic surgeon you feel happy with, do lots of research. Check the surgeon's credentials. Do a search for the surgeons name on the internet. Find out if other patients have been happy with his/her work. Ask the surgeon for before and after photos. Be sure that the plastic surgeon can answer all your questions confidently. Find a plastic surgeon who makes you feel comfortable and listens to what your goals are. Finding the right plastic surgeon is a very important step, so don't rush this. Take your time. Don't feel pressured or obliged to use a particular surgeon just because he has given you a free consultation.
